Survivors

Cancer survivors are our honored guests at the Relay. To show how important they are and how much hope and promise they give to so many people for their victories, we hold a special survivor ceremony prior to the start of the Relay. Cake will be served, people will share their stories, pins will be given to all of the caregivers, and special medals will be awarded to all of the survivors in attendance. Our survivors and caregivers will also help us kick off the Relay by walking the first lap in a celebration of life!

We are also very excited to continue a tradition started in 2003 of creating a survivor handprint banner. We ask all of our survivors to come to the designated area in the survivor tent, put a glove on your hand (we provide the gloves), dip your hand in some purple paint, and put your hand on the banner. The result is something that is beautiful, meaningful, and very inspirational. It's something that we are very proud of, and we hope you are as well! We encourage your participation!
