Recently purchased and renovated, located in the heart of downtown Rockland, the Thorndike Creamery offers much more than just ice cream.
Food is a passion for Matthew and Sarah Vokey. Each and every ingredient is important. We offer homemade soups that change daily. Our pizza sauce is housemade and as close to famous New Haven sauce as Sarah can get. You can also get fresh made calzones with your choice of fillings. Our sandwiches are generous and delicious, with such items as a our Vegi Panini: Artichoke hearts, spinach, tomatoes, pesto, and a roasted red pepper and goat cheese spread on Borealis' multi grain bread pressed until warmed through on our panini. Corned Beef or Turkey Reuben with locally made Morse's Sauerkraut. We also offer vegetarian selections, grilled cheese, BLT's with Applewood Smoked Bacon. Or you can BYOS (Build Your Own Sandwich with anything that we have available). We have house made soups daily and a variety of specials from quesadillas, lobster rolls, egg salad made from local farm raised eggs, and many more. Locally made in Scarborough by Gifford's (family owned for generations) with over 85 Maine dairy farms supplying them with their milk and cream. We offer ice cream in the many variations one would expect: Cones and Cups of Ice Cream, toppings, Floats, Frappes (milkshakes), Ice Cream Sodas, Banana Splits, Hot Fudge (or Caramel) sundaes..... and many more treats! Stop by for a hot or cold delight!
